CIRS Symptoms in my Kids

How did I know my kids had CIRS? Their conventional MD thought they were perfectly healthy. Little did she know they had multiple health issues playing out: CIRS, Lyme, parasites, etc…My young kids exhibited specific CIRS symptoms like falling constantly, joint pain, always tired, uber dramatic, etc.

My 5 1/2 year old son complained of being tired all the time. He’d drop to the ground suddenly and complain of being “old”. He was uber dramatic and at the snap of a finger he’d switch from happy to sad.

My youngest at 2 1/2 barely spoke. We taught him sign language because we knew he understood, but something was just holding his language back. The month before his diagnosis of CIRS he started falling constantly. He complained of his joints hurting non stop and he was on Motrin 3 times a day. He always woke up on the wrong side of the bed and did not have restorative sleep at night.

Your kids may have different symptoms than mine. Go with your gut if you think they are struggling with CIRS. It’s worth it.

Through Dr Shoemaker’s website Surviving Mold you will find a list of  CIRS symptoms.

Also, here’s a link for 2 paper’s on Dr Shoemaker website discussing CIRS screening tools and diagnosis in kids. As a parent, the main point I gathered from the articles below is that for children, they do not need many symptoms using Dr. Shoemaker’s standard roster of 37 to make a clear positive CIRS diagnosis. For example, for a child of ≤ 5 years, a positive diagnosis is ≥5 symptoms . For a child at least 5 years but < 11 years, a positive diagnosis is ≥8 symptoms . For a child of ≥11 years, a positive diagnosis is ≥13 symptoms. Kids don’t need many symptoms at all to have CIRS.
