About Us

IMG_5826A short synopsis about myself, my husband, and my kids. We were all diagnosed with CIRS, namely a mold illness in Jan 2018. At the time my kids were 2 1/2 and 5 1/2. We struggled and lived day by day, but our kids miraculously showed quick improvement with CIRS protocol. They had energy again and my youngest started talking and not complaining about hurting joints constantly. I kept saying to myself, what if we hadn’t gone down the route of CIRS treatment. Our kids would be so different. As the early months continued, the boys kept having re exposure issues (we thought) and my youngest, his breathing condition worsened. It became clear they needed immune support measures and something beyond CIRS may be going on.

Life changed so much so quickly and it was a HUGE adjustment: our oldest son became homeschooled, we could no longer visit the friends we loved in their house due to its old age, we had to avoid many stores we always shopped at, and our oldest really didn’t understand why things must change. Our life was consumed by taking care of the kids, cleaning, and trying to heal ourselves. In the mean time, our suspicions I had Lyme disease became confirmed, my husband started oxygen full time, and we suspected our boys may have congenital Lyme.

We luckily were not living in a moldy house but 10 years of dust meant challenges for those with CIRS. Our previous house led us to CIRS illness. When our energy for cleaning was through, God found us new friends at church who helped do the last of the cleaning and sorting.  At about 6 months, we were on the road towards seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Our boys started seeing a naturopathic doctor specializing in Lyme, CIRS and chronic illness. We started seeing more improvement in them. At the same time, I started Lyme treatment with naturopathic medicines. My chronic fatigue and brain fog started lifting and I had new found energy, unlike the last 7 plus years. My husband continues to be on oxygen full time but he is stable and his lungs are slowly healing via naturopathic medicine. Our boys will start Lyme treatment soon.

In 8 months, to go from so much pain and hardship to now hope, is a miracle. We lived in fear of mold for months with CIRS but God brought us out of fear and gave us hope and healing. Our journey is not through and we are still healing and learning. We are thankful for our God, walking with us and caring for our needs. We are thankful for the friends who have stood with us through the difficult times and the less traveled path.

I hope this blog shares our journey of hope and healing to others going through the same journey. There was so little information on kids with CIRS when we started this journey so that’s why I started writing MyKidsHealingJourney to help future families struggling with CIRS in their kids.
