It’s Not Just Personality

When my kids are off kilter and start whining and behaving out of whack, usually something health wise is happening. Too often, conventional MD’s and parents attribute these behaviors to personality traits, growing pains or just a phase. There may be more going on than meets the eye.

My oldest who is now 6, since living in a moldy house (at age 4) started to whine nonstop and exhibit dramatic behaviors. He’d fall to the ground for example and say he was old and couldn’t get up. He’d tell us he was “out of breath” and he was often too tired to do anything but sit on a couch. His mood would change in a snap of a finger. He had an  ever changing cough and no allergy doctor could figure it out. No inhaler medicines helped. The allergist thought it was in his head.

My eldest is the best example of how he lost equilibrium due to chronic illness. He is now healed from CIRS, a mold illness and he is being treated for congenital Lyme disease. Now, when he his feeling well, he is very even in personality. He’s kind, helpful, has loads of energy, and barely if at all dramatic. He is happy! Even now, I keep an eye out for when he’s off kilter and he starts whining or withdrawing from play due to fatigue; usually, it means he’s herxing or a new health issue has arisen.

I wonder how much sleep problems in children are related to health challenges also. Conventional MD’s often attribute kids not sleeping do to a growth or emotional phase or just do to personality and how they were sleep trained. This may be the case for some kids, but I would argue that some kids may be having health problems which lead them to wake up all too often.

Our youngest started not sleeping at night 6 months into CIRS treatment, although he’d always slept well at night previously. He woke up way too often for about 1 month and we realized that he was waking up at the same time each night. It was during the liver detoxing time (between 1-3 AM) in the Chinese Organ Clock. Our NMD realized that his body was trying to detox heavy metals, but his body’s detox pathways weren’t working. As the metals built up , he’d wake up at night. By putting him on the right supplements, he started sleeping through the night again, like magic. We have not had that challenge with him since then.

I write this blog because too often behaviors in kids get attributed to personality or the kids get labeled as having ADHD, Autism etc. These labels do not help parents find their kids true potentials and heal their illnesses, which are often at the root of their symptoms. I encourage you as parents to search for answers to heal your kids. They can heal. Look for a medical professional who addresses root cause and doesn’t just treat symptoms.
